Product Summary
A-Series products are designed to work together with consistent profiles and accent windows that allow architects the ease of choosing different styles of windows for the same home without sacrificing the overall look of the architectural style.
A-Series trim is made of Fibrex® material, a proprietary wood fiber and vinyl composite material. Fibrex material never needs painting and won't flake, rot, blister, peel, pit or corrode.
Features and Benefits
The Andersen Architectural A-Series windows represent the pinnacle of design flexibility and performance engineering. Created through a collaboration between architects and builders, this collection offers a comprehensive system of windows and patio doors designed to work together seamlessly, ensuring architectural authenticity and long-term durability for even the most demanding projects.
The A-Series features an advanced, weather-resistant construction designed to withstand the harshest environments. The windows utilize a high-performance design that incorporates fiberglass, composite material, and wood to provide superior thermal efficiency. These materials are combined with a durable exterior finish that resists water, decay, and insects, significantly reducing the need for ongoing maintenance while protecting your investment against the elements.
Customization is a core benefit of the Architectural A-Series. Available in a wide array of window types—including Awning, Casement, Double-Hung, Picture, and Specialty shapes—these windows allow you to maintain a consistent aesthetic across your entire home. Owners can select from a curated palette of exterior colors, interior wood species, and various hardware finishes, ensuring each window serves as a deliberate design element that complements your home’s unique architectural style.
Beyond aesthetics, the A-Series is engineered for exceptional energy efficiency. The product line offers various glass options, including Low-E4 glass, which helps keep homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer while protecting interiors from UV damage. These energy-efficient features contribute to lower utility costs and a more comfortable indoor climate throughout the changing seasons.
Functionality is enhanced through thoughtful design details. Whether choosing a classic Double-Hung window for traditional ventilation or a Casement window for maximum unobstructed views and airflow, the operation of every A-Series unit is smooth and reliable. The precision-engineered hardware is not only designed for ease of use but also acts as a sophisticated visual accent, available in styles that range from traditional to contemporary to match your desired interior design theme.
By choosing Andersen Architectural A-Series windows, you are selecting a product backed by the reputation of a long-standing industry leader. These windows are built to perform under pressure, offering the perfect balance of custom architectural beauty and the rigorous, low-maintenance durability required for high-end residential and commercial applications.
Frame Options
The Andersen Architectural A-Series windows offer a sophisticated approach to material engineering, designed to balance aesthetic customization with structural performance. These windows utilize a composite construction method that integrates multiple materials to provide specific functional benefits for both the interior and exterior of the home.
For the exterior, the frames are engineered with a fiberglass and Fibrex composite material. This exterior cladding is factory-finished to provide a durable, low-maintenance surface that resists the elements. Homeowners can select from a wide range of exterior colors, including traditional neutrals and bolder, modern tones, all of which are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and resist fading, chalking, and peeling over time.
The interior of the A-Series frame is primarily crafted from high-quality wood. Andersen offers a variety of wood species, allowing for a natural, furniture-grade finish that can be stained or painted to complement the interior design of the room. Options typically include Pine, Oak, Maple, Cherry, Mahogany, Vertical Grain Douglas Fir, and Alder. These interior wood options provide a classic, warm aesthetic that integrates seamlessly with architectural millwork.
By combining a protective, high-performance exterior composite with a customizable, natural wood interior, the A-Series window frames offer the durability required for exterior resilience alongside the design flexibility needed for refined interior styling. This combination ensures that the structural integrity of the window remains high while providing significant opportunities for exterior and interior personalization across their full range of styles, including awning, casement, double hung, specialty, and picture windows.
Glass Options
Andersen Architectural A-Series windows offer a sophisticated selection of high-performance glass options designed to meet diverse climate needs, energy efficiency goals, and aesthetic preferences. These glazing solutions are engineered to balance light transmittance, solar heat gain, and thermal insulation, ensuring optimal comfort throughout the year.
The primary offering is the SmartSun glass, which provides the benefits of high-performance Low-E glass while allowing natural light to enter the home. It is designed to block solar heat gain, helping to keep interiors cooler in the summer, and is highly effective at filtering out UV rays to protect furniture and flooring from fading.
For projects requiring specific climate-based performance, Andersen offers PassiveSun glass. This option is optimized for northern climates where capturing solar heat is beneficial during colder months, helping to reduce heating costs by allowing the sun's energy to warm the interior space.
In addition to these standard performance tiers, the A-Series supports various specialty glazing needs, including:
- Tempered Glass: Available for increased safety and strength, often used in locations where local building codes require impact-resistant glass.
- Laminated Glass: Designed for enhanced security and sound control, providing an extra layer of protection against forced entry and reducing the transmission of exterior noise.
- Patterned Glass: Offers options for privacy while still allowing natural light to filter through, suitable for areas such as bathrooms or bedrooms.
- Spandrel Glass: Available for specific architectural applications where non-transparent glass is required.
Many of these glass options can be configured with double- or triple-pane assemblies to further maximize thermal performance. Furthermore, A-Series windows can be customized with various grille patterns, including between-the-glass options that simplify cleaning while providing a traditional aesthetic, or simulated divided light options for a more authentic architectural profile.
