Glass Options
Andersen Architectural E-Series windows and doors offer a comprehensive selection of high-performance glass options designed to meet diverse climate needs, energy efficiency goals, and aesthetic preferences. These offerings are engineered to provide superior thermal performance while maintaining exceptional clarity and durability.
The core of the E-Series glass program is the SmartSun™ glass, which is designed to provide the benefits of high-performance Low-E glass while remaining virtually indistinguishable from clear glass. SmartSun glass helps reduce energy bills by keeping homes cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, while also filtering out up to 95% of harmful UV rays to protect interior furnishings.
For projects requiring specialized performance, Andersen provides a variety of glass types tailored to specific environmental conditions:
Low-E4® glass options are available for various climates, offering optimized solar heat gain coefficients. These options help balance the need for natural light with the requirement for interior comfort, providing excellent thermal insulation properties.
Sun glass is engineered for climates with intense sun exposure. It features a subtle tint that helps reduce solar heat gain, effectively keeping interiors cooler during hot weather without significantly obstructing the view.
PassiveSun® glass is specifically designed for northern climates where solar heat gain is desired during colder months. It allows the sun’s energy to pass through the glass to help heat the home naturally, improving energy efficiency during the winter.
Clear Dual-Pane and Triple-Pane glass options are also available for applications where specific thermal coatings are not required or where high-performance triple-pane glazing is needed for maximum insulation and noise reduction.
Beyond thermal performance, the E-Series offers several aesthetic and functional glass finishes and treatments:
Tempered glass is available as a safety option, designed to break into small, pebble-like pieces rather than jagged shards, making it ideal for windows located near doors or in high-traffic areas.
Laminated glass options provide enhanced security, safety, and sound control. By sandwiching a durable interlayer between layers of glass, this option provides increased resistance to forced entry, improves acoustic dampening against exterior noise, and remains intact if the glass is broken.
Obscure glass patterns are available for areas requiring increased privacy, such as bathrooms or entryways. These patterns diffuse light while preventing clear visibility through the pane.
For unique architectural projects, the E-Series also supports options for tinted glass, which can provide a distinct look while offering additional shading, as well as various decorative glass choices that allow for personalization of the home’s facade.
